Ask around in endgame chat and you'll hear the same thing: Pounds of Flesh aren't glamorous, but you need them if you're chasing serious boss rewards. They matter most once your character is already comfortable in Torment, because the content tied to them doesn't really forgive sloppy gearing. If your build still folds to elite packs, farm upgrades first. Better weapons, cleaner aspects, and stronger Diablo 4 Items will make the whole process far less painful, especially when Bloodied modifiers start pushing enemies above what you're used to fighting.

What Pounds of Flesh Are Used For

Pounds of Flesh are a boss-summoning material connected to Bloodied endgame activities. Their main purpose is to help you reach the Butcher's Hoard in The Broiler, a dungeon found near Gea Kul. This isn't the random Butcher who jumps you in a dungeon corridor and ruins your evening. This version hits harder, has more going on around the arena, and expects you to move properly. You can't just stand still, face-tank everything, and hope your potion button saves you. The reward pool is why players put up with it, though. Unique drops from this encounter can change how a build plays, not just add a small number boost.

Best Way to Farm Them

The main route is through Bloodied activities. These are tougher versions of familiar endgame content, such as Nightmare Dungeons, Infernal Hordes, and lair-style boss runs. To enter them, you need Bloodied Sigils or Blood-Soaked Sigils. A Bloodied Sigil raises the pressure by making enemies feel one Torment tier stronger than your current setting. Blood-Soaked Sigils are a bigger jump. They're aimed at players with tight builds, solid defenses, and enough damage to clear dangerous packs before the screen gets out of hand. If you're new to this farm, start with regular Bloodied Sigils. You'll learn the pacing without burning through revives every other room.

Getting the Right Sigils

Sigils can drop from enemies in Torment, and the odds feel better when you're already farming dense content. Nightmare Dungeons, elite-heavy zones, and seasonal reward caches are all worth working into your route. Don't sit in one activity for hours if it isn't paying off. Rotate. Clear a few dungeons, open seasonal caches, then run whatever Bloodied keys you've picked up. Kurast Undercity can also help if you use a Tribute of Titans, since it can reward boss materials. The catch is simple: the loot table is spread around, so you may get useful keys without getting many Pounds of Flesh. It's still worth doing when you want variety or need other materials at the same time.

Making the Farm Worth Your Time

Efficiency matters more than stubbornness here. If a Blood-Soaked run takes forever, drop back and clear easier Bloodied content faster. You'll usually come out ahead. Prioritise movement speed, reliable crowd control breaks, and enough toughness to survive surprise bursts. Bring a build that kills elites cleanly, because dragging fights out is where mistakes start happening. The Butcher's Hoard can reward items like Blood-Mad Idol, Wendigo Brand, Wyrdskin, Rustbitten Dirk, and Thousand-Eyed Reaver, so the grind has a real payoff. Along the way, you'll also pick up crafting materials, spare gear, and Diablo 4 Gold from the usual endgame loop, which helps cover rerolls, repairs, and build changes while you keep pushing for better drops.
